The Picture Control system is one of the factors that supports the high image quality of Nikon digital SLR and Mirrorless cameras. It lets you create images and movies as you like by using several Picture Control options that feature different characteristics according to your intentions for expression. Picture Controls can be found in many Nikon digital cameras, including D-SLRs, the Nikon 1 interchangeable lens cameras and COOLPIX point and shoot models. Under the Shooting menu, highlight Select Picture Control to change the Picture Control. Nikon Picture Control is a set of preset Picture Controls providing optimal values of brightness, contrast, and hue, etc., for balanced results. The eight types of Nikon Picture Controls described below are available. Quick adjust

Sharpening
Control the sharpness of outlines. Select A to adjust sharpening automatically according to the type of scene.
Clarity
Adjust clarity manually or select A to let the camera adjust clarity automatically. Depending on the scene, shadows may appear around bright objects or halos may appear around dark objects at some settings. Clarity is not applied to movies.
Contrast
Adjust contrast manually or select A to let the camera adjust contrast automatically.
Brightness
Raise or lower brightness without loss of detail in highlights or shadows.

Saturation
Control the vividness of colors. Select A to adjust saturation automatically according to the type of scene.
Hue
Adjust hue.
